How it works

A hybrid system, not a generator

Solar runs the house by day, the battery covers the night and the outage, and the grid is the backstop.

  1. Panels make the powerPanels on the roof feed the hybrid inverter through two MPPT trackers.
  2. The house gets it firstThe inverter runs the house first, charges the battery with what is left, and draws from the grid only when it has to.
  3. The battery covers the outageWhen the grid drops, the inverter switches the backup circuit over to the battery. Lights, fridge, fans and wifi stay on.
  4. Nights run off the batteryThe house runs off stored energy until the battery reaches its reserve, then goes back to the grid.
  5. You watch it from your phoneGeneration, consumption and battery level over Bluetooth and the app.

Good to know

  • Site survey first. Roof orientation, roof condition, switchboard and cable runs all change what a system costs to install. We quote after we have seen the site.
  • The battery needs a sheltered spot. The enclosure is IP21 — indoors, in a garage or under cover, not exposed to rain.
  • Panel count is a range. Panel wattage varies by supply, so a package lists kWp rather than a fixed number of panels.
  • Backing up sensitive equipment? A hybrid inverter switches the backup circuit over when the grid drops — it is not a zero-break online UPS. Servers, network switches and medical equipment should stay behind their own UPS, with the solar system upstream of it.
  • Installation and delivery are available from any branch and are quoted with the system.
